Our Opportunity:

The Business Process Management Technology (BPM) team develops & supports various technology platforms in support of overall workflow solutions at Schwab. These platforms are mission critical, and integral to providing world-class service to our external and internal clients. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly visible team working on a highly visible team at Schwab.

What you’ll do:

You will be joining us as a Managing Director within the BPM Technology team, responsible for the software delivery of multiple teams including our Investment Advisor and Bank businesses plus a number of other areas. You will be managing a team of approximately 20 resources (mix of employees / domestic and offshore contractors) responsible for the delivery of designated initiatives with high quality.

We’ll need you to hit the ground running and achieve the following:

  • Drive the Advisor Services and Bank project deliverables to transform the way they work today. You will be expected to learn the business and play a key partner role in achieving their overall objectives.

  • Manage a portfolio of other Pega applications and build relationships with their associated business and technology partners. Influence the teams on the capabilities and drive to improve how we leverage the solutions within their larger areas.

  • Manage our “legacy” workflow platforms and further develop and manage replacement plans for each. Partner with architecture team on overall strategy.

  • Get your hands dirty with Pega’s reporting capabilities plus our Agile reporting in order to quantitatively drive improvement across your teams. These include application guardrail reporting, technical governance activities, end of sprint reporting and production system activity.

  • Obtain your Pega CSA certification within the first six months (if applicable)

  • Manage a staff of engineering resources to ensure they are following Pega and Agile scrum best practices. Build the skills of your team in both of these areas. Be the manager that all the engineers in our group respect and admire.

  • Leverage excellent communication skills to influence your own staff through senior executives

What you have:

  • At least ten years of software industry experience delivering projects and working with software engineering practices.

  • At least three years of software development experience. Experience with Pegasystems PRPC application development a definite plus. Pega CSA certification or higher preferred.

  • At least five years in leadership roles (scrum master, development lead, existing people leader experience) with increasing responsibility.

  • At least five years’ experience with Agile scrum methodology. Jira experience also preferred.

  • Experience managing a matrixed organization to achieve delivery outcomes (product owners, platform support, and other teams including offshore resources).

  • Financial services industry experience
