Our Opportunity:

Within Schwab’s technology organization, CTS QA is a leader in defining innovative and effective software testing practices across a broad range of technology platforms. The grouphas established strong partnerships with both technology and business teams, as well as thecentralized project services organization. This centralized QA organization supports both Agileand RUP (waterfall) methodologies. The focus of this position will be to provide QALeadership for the Enterprise Security Master (ESM) application, for both new projects under the Security Master Redesign (SMR) program and ongoing ESM releases.

What you’ll do:

Under the direction of CTS QA Manager the person in this position will:

  • Responsible for ongoing, continuous improvement in testing efficiency and effectiveness through the use of innovative QA practices and tools, and close collaboration with the development and business organizations.

  • Overall accountability for al l project or release test efforts across multiple domains, orgs and apps (including End to End Test efforts).

  • Reviews all QA test plans to ensure major milestones, dependencies and critical paths are defined, as well as applying risk-based testing principles where appropriate.

  • Participates in all relevant governance activities.

  • Negotiates overall product quality standards with development and business stakeholders.

  • Acts as the escalation point for all testing related issues.

  • Defines and implements effective risk mitigation strategies for all testing-related risks.

  • Attends regular project meetings to provide a QA perspective.

  • Implements and manages appropriate measurements and metrics for the project or release.

  • Directs reviews and acceptance of project work products related to the technology deliverables (including ambiguity reviews).

  • Obtains agreement on cross domain defect tracking and resolution

  • Participates in Design Reviews, Requirements Ambiguity & Use Case Reviews, directs the test automation activities of the team, and complete Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for any defect slippages.

  • Ensures all the QA processes are followed by the QA Domains to ensure standardization and consistency.

  • Provides overall QA status reporting and escalate issues/risks in a timely manner to Management and assist in resolution.

  • Coordinates with impacted QA Domain leads on testing activities.

  • Consults with business partners when needed for User Acceptance Testing (UAT) advice and counsel.

What you have:

  • MS/BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience

  • 8+ years’ experience in Agile or waterfall methodologies with a focus on software testing

  • 4+ years’ experience in leading the efforts of QA teams, with a demonstrated ability in leading a risk-based approach to software testing

  • Experience in defining, tracking and reporting software testing metrics for Agile or waterfall projects

  • Proven ability of working and leading multiple projects and releases, balancing time and effort for successful delivery

  • Experience with Agile development practices or RUP, test management tools (Atlassian stack preferred, but TFS/MTM are acceptable), as well as test automation tools (Selenium, SOATest preferred).

  • Experience testing ETL tools, and experience with data validation software, preferably Informatica Data Validation Option (DVO) and SQL.

  • Excellent organizational, problem solving, and decision-making skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate across many levels within the technical and business organizations

  • Proven ability to form effective partnerships across large complex organizations and across both business and technical functions

  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to establish, build and maintain relationships with business and development stakeholders, as well as other QA teams

  • Experience working with resources in different geographical locations and the management of offshore vendors

  • Experience with Security Master domain and/or the Golden Source product is a definite plus.
