Schwab Corporate Strategy is an internal strategy group that acts as a trusted advisor to executives and business partners by providing thought partnership, strategic analysis, and insights. The group leads the annual strategic planning cycle for the company in order to support informed decision making around the company’s long-term strategic direction. Corporate Strategy supports the Board, C-suite, and senior leaders, providing an exceptional opportunity to work on the most important strategic topics while gaining visibility among the firm’s senior leadership.

The Manager, Strategic Planning Program is a high impact individual contributor role who will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Strategic Planning Program Office within Corporate Strategy to provide critical project management and support for the strategic planning cycle. The Manager is responsible for coordinating key stakeholders, timelines, and deliverables throughout the strategic planning cycle, including providing regular progress updates, coordinating information gathering, and managing the annual production of the Long-term Corporate Strategic Plan and Long-term Bank Strategic Plan. The manager also serves as a key liaison between Corporate Strategy and a wide range of stakeholders across the company in order to foster strong partnerships and facilitate ongoing enhancements. Examples include working closely with Corporate Risk Management, the Capital Planning team, Corporate Communications, as well as all the major business units across Schwab. In addition to the strategic planning cycle, the Manager will have the opportunity to work closely with the Competitive Intelligence team within Corporate Strategy to support ongoing deliverables through information gathering and analysis.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and maintain detailed timelines for the annual strategic planning cycle

  • Communicate regularly with business partners to ensure that deliverables are high quality, completed on time, and with great visibility across all relevant stakeholders

  • Conduct ongoing assessment of progress against key milestones and adherence to strategic planning guidelines, and escalate issues as appropriate

  • Manage the annual production of the long-term Corporate Strategic Plan and Long-term Bank Strategic Plan

  • Prepare materials for and attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders to discuss strategic planning, participate in regulatory exams and internal audits, and create strong linkages with business unit strategic planning

  • Develop relationships across Schwab, including the strategy, finance, and risk management communities, as well as with major business units

What you have:

  • 2–4 years of work experience in project management, report writing, and/or strategic planning

  • Highly organized, with attention to detail and timelines

  • Strong analytical skills, research capabilities, and ability to manage large and complex ecosystem of information, documents, and sources

  • Ability to develop rapport and relationships with a wide range of business partners, including ability to influence outcomes through collaboration

  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Comfort in a structured, high impact role responsible for delivering on Board, executive, and regulatory requirements

  • Prior experience in financial services preferred
