Our Opportunity:

Charles Schwab Investment Management (CSIM), the asset management arm of Charles Schwab Corporation, has approximately $300 Billion in assets under management (AUM) and is one of the nation’s largest retail money managers. CSIM provides a wide variety of products ranging from money market funds, index mutual funds, actively managed mutual funds, exchange traded funds and multi-asset fund-of-funds. As a provider of core investment products, CSIM is both an important enabler in fulfilling Schwab’s mission of helping everyone be financially fit and critical engine in the company’s profitability and growth.

The Associate Portfolio Manager reports to the Senior Portfolio Manager in the Active Equites team of Charles Schwab Investment Management (CSIM). This experienced investment professional supports the investment team by researching investment strategies and constructing portfolios for CSIM’s active equity funds and managed accounts.

The Associate Portfolio Manager thrives in an entrepreneurial team environment. The successful candidate easily and effectively collaborates with fellow investment professionals. This key team member has outstanding communication and presentation skills and the ability to discuss and explain complex financial and mathematical concepts verbally and in written form.

What you’ll do:

  • Work with leading-edge portfolio construction technology and optimization techniques to construct portfolios and analyze proposed investment strategies

  • Research, back test, and implement equity models, systematic investment and trading strategies

  • Support daily production processes and maintain proprietary research data

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in statistics, computational finance, computer science, or another quantitative field highly preferred.

  • Minimum of two years of experience in portfolio management or quantitative research as well as significant experience in statistical modeling of large data sets.

  • Strong understanding of practical methods for quantitative investing that include: multi-factor risk models, portfolio construction, optimization, back testing, and scenario analysis.

  • Proficiency in R or S-Plus, Axioma, Barra and FactSet a plus.

  • Passionate about working at the intersection of finance and technology.
