The Product Development and Engineering (PDE) team is responsible for building applications for retail investors and financial advisors. These solutions are essential to the success of the investor and offer features such as client relationship management, portfolio accounting, trading, data integration, reporting and much more. PDE offers a wide range of technology opportunities for the best and brightest people to grow and demonstrate their skills as they develop leading edge financial applications.
What you’ll do:
The MongoDB Database developer will work closely with the development teams to implement new features and enhancements on a new application as well as maintenance and support of existing applications in production. The person hired for this role should have strong experience developing against a MongoDB database. This experience should include a deep understanding of MongoDB database modeling, querying for NoSQL databases, experience with sharding using MongoDB, and practical hands on experience tuning database collections and shards to achieve top performance.
What you have:
10+ years of industry experience in data modeling, understanding schema design to drive scalability and performance requirements
4+ years of experience with MongoDB database modeling and development. The candidate should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the differences between typical relational and NoSQL database development and access methodologies.
Ability to drive discussions, interact and communicate successfully with business partners and technology teams
Excellent understanding of various MongoDB database design patterns and physical architectures for different use cases
Strong experience using at least one popular data modeling tool, such as Erwin, ER/Studio
Experience with physical collection creation, access pattern tuning, sharding implementation, index creation, and debugging query execution to obtain optimum database performance
Strong written and verbal communications, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Capability to mentor staff on MongoDB best practices
Self-starter who can grasp difficult concepts and large architectures quickly
Strong estimation skills with ability to provide reasonable estimates
Strong object-oriented design skills with proven track record of well-engineered design.
Experience with unit testing and history of successful interaction with a QA group
Experience developing hosted client server applications
BS or MS in computer science or related technical field
Some hands on experience developing .NET C# applications. This position is not a C# programming position but the ideal candidate will have some hands-on C# development experience in order to understand how developers use C# to access NoSQL databases.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies is a big plus.
Experience with PowerShell is a plus.
