Our Opportunity:

At Schwab, the Global Data Technology (GDT) organization governs the strategy and implementation of the enterprise data warehouse and emerging data platforms. We help Marketing, Finance, Risk and executive leadership make fact-based decisions by integrating and analyzing data. The Global Data Technology organization (GDT) enables a competitive advantage by building out and maintaining capabilities that allows us to quickly capitalize of Schwab’s data assets. Our team delivers innovative client experience capability and rich business insight through robust enterprise data integration. We are looking for a Unix Scripting Engineer who has a passion for automating processes to add to our team.

What you’ll do:

  • Coordinate upgrades with application owners

  • Application testing during upgrades

  • Mange file system permissions and maintenance on NAS drives

  • Include: manage AD groups that control those permissions on NAS drives

  • Assist with debugging, writing and managing Unix shell scripts

  • Covers more than ABI Batch servers

  • Including Informatica servers

  • Manage Unix platform access including Hadoop servers

  • Evaluate shell scripts that can be retiredSME consultation for Unix configurations, shell scripting and maintenance

  • Perform retires

  • Manage shell script currency and maintenance

  • Document and maintain Unix documentation

What you have:

  • 2+ years of Unix administration

  • 2+ years of Unix shell scripting

  • Exposure to Perl, Python or Ruby scripting languages preferred

  • Basic SQL skills desired

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience crafting, organizing and maintaining technical documentation

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Proven history of taking ownership for delivery of responsibilities

  • Ability and desire to work independently
