The Senior Voice Engineer will have the opportunity to help shape the next generation of telecommunications for Charles Schwab & Co. This position will be deeply engaged in a dynamic, creative environment that is closely aligned with strategic business objectives. The ideal candidate will have proven leadership experience and a track record of designing and implementing highly available voice and network solutions for enterprise size customers.
What you’ll do:
This position will work closely with the Voice architects to develop an enterprise network strategy to support a growing voice (VoIP) infrastructure. It will work with business units, subsidiaries, other Schwab Technology Services departments, and vendors to develop solutions for their technology needs. It will propose and implement system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. It will develop define, document and communicate standards, manage vendor briefings, perform in-depth technical evaluations, including requirements, analysis and documentation, RFP development, evaluation criteria development, and post-evaluation reporting on products.
What you have:
Minimum of five (5) years’ Cisco VOIP engineering experience working in an enterprise environment that demands a highly reliable, highly resilient, growing network environment with respect to Voice, LAN, load balancing and secure data center technologies.
Requires an in depth understanding and work experience of Unified Communications infrastructure, hardware, and software, including in depth experience, skill, and knowledge of Cisco Call Manager software and infrastructure configuration.
Solid networking design and engineering experience – Layer 2/3, QoS, 802.1x, and WAN.
Requires experience in dealing with large-scale information systems projects and service delivery.
Requires excellent problem solving and analytic skills to effectively address the needs of customers, including experience handling problem escalations and notifications.
Experience configuring and working with Cisco VoIP enabled technologies.
Advanced knowledge of networking protocols, hardware, and operating systems.
Experience working with vendors to improve relationships, understand product roadmaps, define future capabilities and ensure product support.
Provide leadership, as a technology subject matter expert and engineer, in the area of Unified Communications and other such collaborative technologies.
A minimum of Three years’ experience working collaboratively with business user groups to understand requirements and develop solutions based on those requirements. Will need to bring a balance of expertise and customer facing skills.
Expected to maintain deep knowledge of industry trends and identify new technologies which can enhance the service provided to the business.
The ability for periodic travel to meet with enterprise customers, and peers.
On call support responsibilities required.
Ability to create enthusiasm among team members while embracing positive change.
Must work well in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Must possess excellent communication skills (oral and written) and technical understanding to take complex technical concepts and present them to a range of technical and non-technical audiences.
BA Computer Science, Telecommunications, engineering or other similar technical discipline or equal experience
Minimum of CCVP or equal work experience is a must
Familiarity with TDM, SIP trunking design and implementation is a plus
Scripting/programming experience a plus
Experience in Financial Services is a plus
