As the Sr. Manager, Security Management you will perform hands-on issue management activities to help Schwab Technology Services' (STS') issue owners successfully complete remediation of their issues on schedule while following our standard issue management process.
Manage the SGIM audit/regulatory issue management staff and bring leadership, conviction, perspective, consistency and quality to the Senior Manager role.
What you’ll do:
Perform hands-on issue management activities as directed by Managing Director, including:
Provide issue management services for many (25-50+) remediation efforts to the Schwab Technology Services (STS) organization so as to minimize risk in Schwab’s technical environments. Services include providing oversight (remediation health assessments, jeopardy identification and escalation, and management reporting) to many projects and smaller initiatives to ensure their on-time delivery. The work does not include managing projects although the role requires project management skills and knowledge
Create reports, metrics and dashboards for review with STS Sr. Management, with the goal of ensuring awareness of issues with jeopardies or requiring some level of action.
Ensure processes and procedures are documented and sound, and the Archer eGRC tool contains all needed functionality. Take steps to ensure improvements are identified and implemented, as needed.
Manage the SGIM audit/regulatory issue management staff and bring leadership, conviction, perspective, consistency and quality to the Senior Manager role:
Ensure staff are trained to oversee the remediation of findings created as a result of non-compliance with Schwab’s Information Security Policy and regulatoryrequirements. This includes understanding the issue management process and Archer tool so they can provide effective issue management services.
Provide direction to staff within a sound organizational structure where employees understand their roles and the work is clearly defined.
Assign, instruct, direct and check the activities of the staff to ensure the work performed follows department processes and procedures and is of a high quality.
Manage the personnel actions of staff including approving vacation, staff selection, performance appraisals and salary/merit increase recommendations, assisting with training and development, and taking disciplinary action as necessary.
Coach and develop subordinates to achieve goals and objectives.
Understand and effectively communicate corporate and organizational information and context. Gain individual and team buy-in and support of corporate and organizational values and initiatives.
Interact and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences including all levels of STS management up through the CIO.
What you have:
7+ years of Information Systems/Computer Science technical education/experience
5+ years of project management experience with demonstrated ability to drive projects to successful completion with minimum oversight
2+ years of experience managing staff
Knowledge of information security principles, best practices or security technologies
Knowledge of the general tools and techniques of Audit and Risk Management
Understanding of risk and the design and operation of appropriate controls
Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, influencing, interviewing, prioritization, and decision-making skills
Ability to identify stakeholders, assess their needs and manage their expectations through execution and effective communication
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to inform and persuade technicians and managers both orally and in writing
Excellent facilitation and presentation skills; strong initiative; self-starter; self-directed; ability to multi-task
Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with business and technical staff and management
Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications including Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio
Clear understanding of the roles of policies, standards and procedures within an IT organization
Experience establishing and managing business and/or technical programs
Archer eGRC hands-on experience
Knowledge of Governance, Risk and Compliance systems and processes
Familiarity with issue management processes
Experience in the Financial Services industry
Knowledge of the regulatory environment within which financial institutions must operate
