The Director of Advisor Services Product Development and Integration will be responsible for helping to shape the design, evolution and integration of new and existing products from across the firm for Advisor Services. This individual will help to develop the strategic roadmap for key investment products in partnership with product teams outside of Advisor Services. The role will lead the effort to articulate AS priorities for Products & Platforms across the firm and work to ensure products and platforms reflect AS priorities and client experience needs. The role will also require working cross-functionally within the AS enterprise to ensure that strategic and tactical input is provided in all phases of product design from conception through rollout.

The Director will work closely with the relevant product and project managers to assure that Advisor Services has an effective seat at the table throughout the process and will need to work closely with all internal and external written and oral communication channels by serving as a subject matter expert on ‘in flight’ initiatives. The Director will be responsible for managing cross functional teams and will need to work effectively across all levels of the organization. This role also entails developing and executing communications to support organizational priorities when interacting across the firm.

What you’ll do:

  • Partnership. Work closely with key functions outside of AS including Investor Services, Third Party Mutual Funds, ETFs, Fixed Income, Charles Schwab Investment Management, Schwab Wealth Management Advisory and Alternative Investments by participating in the ongoing flow of information and to anticipate potential need or competitive trends in the marketplace as it concerns available products. Follow-up on critical cross-organizational issues / needs, summarize key points and risks, and make recommendations to enable efficient decision making.

  • Product Planning and Decision Support. Develop a well-informed and trusted point of view to help facilitate the business and product investment planning processes within AS, including drafting summary documents for review with executives that help them understand and prioritize product and service opportunities. Help with resource allocation decisions.

  • Develop a strong working relationship with a cross section of people across the Sales Relationship Management organization to gain a nuanced sense of what our clients’ needs are across a broad spectrum of products and services.

  • Help to develop a proactive agenda with business partners across the firm for product-related initiatives, and drive the implementation of these initiatives.

  • Develop a strong working relationship with the Field Experience and AS Marketing team to help craft powerful and simple messaging on relevant integration topics that are ‘through the client’s eyes’.

  • Potentially work with vendors or third parties who may be partnering with Schwab to provide product development input or address integration.

  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced and matrix environment

  • A ‘can-do’, results and detail orientation approach to executing on projects

  • Very strong relationship skills

  • 6-8 years in an execution oriented, product or project management related role

  • Management experience

  • Experience in the financial services industry is a plus
