Banking & Trust Services (BTS) is the business enterprise within Schwab overseeing Charles Schwab Bank and the Charles Schwab trust companies. Our Opportunity:

A Business Solutions Architect (BSA) combines strong backgrounds in business analysis, process re-engineering, and technology to design and lead the implementation of best in industry data, process and technology solutions.

In this role, the BSA will interact directly with business and technology resource groups at all levels to gain a deep understanding of the current challenges and goals, as well as their future direction. Partnering with product owners, Bank Oversight, Vendor Management Office, and Technology Delivery teams, the BSA will understand the workflow, technology/product solutions, Compliance implications, metrics, and indicators and foster a culture for design of efficient and cost-effective business solutions.

Working alongside the Enterprise Architecture and Development teams, the BSA melds legacy system knowledge with a view of existing and emerging technologies to devise cutting edge solutions to propel the business to success.

What you’ll do:

Business Analysis:

  • Understand the Business Unit roadmap / vision

  • Act as a “voice of the business” within the data analysis and IT and across the full system domain, and serve as a primary point of contact for the business.

  • Help the business articulate business / functional and non-functional requirements

  • Create process artifacts as required, such as (but not limited to): business cases, process maps, use cases, user stories, requirements documents, test plans, and quality matrices

  • Perform impact analysis for proposed changes and projects of all sizes.

  • Drive process improvement based on lessons learned and data analysis

  • Assist Management teams in creating Project Roadmaps and general initiative planning

Solution Definition & Planning:

  • Work with product owners and Business Analysts to determine the best solution for the issue being addressed

  • Collaborate with business representatives, Project Services and varied IT teams to develop and implement the specific technology and architecture necessary to deliver business solutions

  • Partner with Enterprise and Application Architects, Development and Project Management teams for planning and estimating the solution size and effort

Systems Expertise:

  • Promotion of shared infrastructure and applications to reduce costs and improve information flow. Ensure that projects do not duplicate functionality or diverge from each other or business and IT strategies

  • As requested, research system-level requirements to answer questions about how the system does or should work

  • Review Architecture Design documentation & requirements documents for new projects and system changes, ensuring completeness and clarity

  • Answer queries from Business, Architecture, Design, Development and QA teams

What you have:

Education and/or Experience:

  • 5+ years of IT leadership in Business or Systems Analysis

  • 5+ years’ experience in the project lifecycle - including business planning, data analysis, data modeling, data quality, data mining, process analysis and design, business and functional requirements analysis, use case analysis, testing

  • 5+ years’ experience working in dynamic cross-competency teams using a structured project methodology

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Strong analytical skills, ability to analyze and document complex business processes

  • Problem solver, gather and interpret relevant data and information

  • Proven ability to provide and produce clear and well organized documentation

  • Ability to work independently and be a self-motivator

  • Capacity to manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently

  • Risk assessment, negotiation and problem resolution skills

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Visio)

  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to bridge communication amongst technical and non-technical project staff and customers

  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency in completing task and resolving issues in order to deliver a quality project on time and within budget

Skills:

  • Ability to design solutions that are appropriate to the problem at hand in terms of simplicity, cost, and support required

  • Creative thinker with the ability to provide both strategic and tactical direction who is detail-oriented but also able to see the big picture
