Banking & Trust Services (BTS) is the business enterprise within Schwab overseeing Charles Schwab Bank and the Charles Schwab trust companies. The BTS organization offers deposit, loan and trust products to Schwab clients who are looking for holistic wealth management solutions that complement their brokerage activities. The Bank Application Security Administrator is responsible for ensuring that fundamental operating controls are in place, properly executed and clearly documented for each application they are assigned to. Additionally, they must provide current controls documentation to Information Security Risk Management (“ISRM”) annually and as requested for review and approval. Charles Schwab Bank follows the three lines of defense model of risk governance. The Bank Application Security Administrator is a front line unit position for Charles Schwab Bank and assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations in the context of their responsibilities.
Application Security is an area of ever-increasing emphasis by the regulators. All activities are subject to Internal Audit review. Protecting client assets and data is critically important to client trust and brand integrity.
What you’ll do:
Develop, own and maintain Bank Application Security Administrator roles and responsibilities
Initiate, track and summarize user attestations to ensure appropriate access necessary to perform business functions is completed annually
Review Application Portfolio Management (APM) system at least annually and send updates to application liaison
Ensure access to bank applications meet CS&Co policy and regulatory guidelines
Understand each bank application’s user list management and how to gain access to the application’s user list
Maintain bank application role definitions
Perform annual Segregation of Duties analysis to ensure that controls are in place to safeguard that no employee has the ability to both perpetrate and conceal errors or fraud in the normal course of their duties.
Develop compensating controls for any banking applications as needed
Gather and retain Privileged Access Surveys on bank applications
Develop new and maintain current access administration procedures, seek application business owner review and approval at least annually, and archive in retention location
Assist application business owner with reviewing access, risks and controls of the applications
Partner with Access and Entitlements (A&E) and Information and Security Risk Management (ISRM) to ensure banking applications are appropriately defined and access controls are appropriate
Ensure that bank applications are risk rated and map to corporate standards
Support Application Oversight Program (AOP) quarterly reviews by completing the scope survey and supplying the Application Administration Procedure, most recent attestation summary, current user list and follow-up requests as needed
Work with Team Manager to ensure BOOST team is prepared for Bank Regulator Exams
Coordinate materials to be delivered to OCC as part of ongoing supervision
Support pre-exam and intra-exam requests for all Bank OCC exams that touch banking applications.
Other duties include:
Support other member of the Bank team
Identify and implement improvement opportunities
Identify, analyze and help resolve gaps in policy and/or procedure adherence.
Provide timely, quality answer/requests for information on an ad-hoc basis
What you have:
5+ years’ experience in Technology functions
Experience with Bank Technology systems strongly preferred
Strong client focus
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Bachelor’s degree preferred
