Our Opportunity:

The Security Master Data Management (SMDM) team provides business leadership of the security reference, end of day pricing and fundamental data platforms. The SMDM team’s objective is to transform how security reference data is managed across the firm as a strategic enterprise asset. Leveraging a new reference data platform, this team will establish centralized data governance, integrate platform data throughout the firm, optimize value from data providers, and implement polices and controls to lead the data quality function and manage risk.

What you’ll do:

This is a highly specialized position that will lead the Vendor Management function for Schwab’s reference data and fundamental platforms, which includes the descriptive, pricing and fundamental data for nearly 7 million unique securities and publishing of this data to numerous trading and client facing systems across the firm. The Senior Manager will manage all vendor management processes. This position includes active engagement with senior leaders, business and technology partners within Schwab as well as active engagement with Vendor partners. This role will be based in Denver or Austin and reports to the MD, Security Master Data Management.

Key Vendor Management responsibilities include:

  • Optimizing overall data spend for the firm by evaluating Schwab’s business needs and market opportunities, which includes:

  • Understanding vendor products and services that are:

  • Currently contracted by Schwab’s Security Master Data Management team

  • Offered in the Reference Data (Descriptive and End of Day Pricing) and Fundamental Data domains

  • Engaging with vendors and assess opportunities to change and improve the way we consume products

  • Ensuring we get the right data from the right vendors by evaluating coverage and quality

  • Partnering with Corporate Vendor Management to:

  • Validate vendor contracts versus current usage of data and services and implement ongoing control to identify gaps

  • Ensure contract currency

  • Supporting vendor selection efforts for new data, which includes:

  • Analyzing vendor service and data for vendor selection

  • Managing, editing and negotiating of service, sales and licensing agreements, NDA's and other legal documents

  • Acting as liaison between vendors, attorneys and business partners for vendor contracting

  • Managing vendor contacts and relationships

What you have:

  • 5 + years experience Vendor Managment in Market Data. Prior experience in Financial Services Security Reference Data and Fundamental Data domains and vendors is highly desired

  • Strong data analytic skills and the ability to effectively distill a varied set of inputs to drive vendor selection decisions

  • Prior experience in operating a contracts database is highly desired

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize and extract complex legal, technical and business issues

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization.

  • Must have strong attention to detail, the ability to work across the enterprise or within cross-functional team

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and other MS Office Products and applications

  • An undergraduate degree is required; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Security licenses including series 7 and 24 preferred
