Our Opportunity:

The position is within the AML Department, part of the Financial Crimes Investigations (FCI) organization within the Compliance Department. The organization assists in the assessment of AML risk presented to our business and the affirmative commitment to comply with all laws and regulations governing money laundering activities, as well as those identified under OFAC. A key objective of the organization is AML Quality Assurance (QA) to assess and improve the Corporation’s abilities to meet regulatory obligations. Responsibilities of the FCI extend beyond the AML program and include the Corporation’s Anti-Bribery and Identity Theft Program, Internal Investigations, and the safeguarding of customer and corporate assets against fraud.

We are currently seeking a Quality Assurance Manager who can partner with the current leadership team to further develop the quality assurance program for the department. This will include the sampling of work for review and the execution of supervision controls.

What you'll do:

The AML QA position requires a broad range of competencies related to quality assurance review. The successful candidate must possess knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and OFAC regulations. Strong communication, writing skills, research abilities and PC skills are required, as is the ability to work independently and take initiative on a range of AML Department-related activities. The following are highlights of the responsibilities and performance level of the position:

  • Conduct department QA reviews which consist of cyclical reviews of AML / OFAC processes performed at varied frequencies ranging from weekly to annually

  • Perform quality control tasks to ensure unusual/suspicious transactions are appropriately identified / documented, and Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) are correctly filed in accordance with regulatory requirements/agency guidelines

  • Escalate alerts/cases/SARs that do not meet Corporate BSA standards and follow through to resolution

  • Assist the AML Monitoring and Investigations Director with administration of a QA Program and maintain QA standards/procedures, including risk-based standards, for compliance testing

  • Through a cycle of activities, the QA analysis will continuously assess inherent risks and mitigating controls in the execution of established procedures set for the AML Department

  • Where applicable, the AML QA Manager recommends modification to process through actionable reporting of observations and drives training recommendations to close any identified gaps

  • Responsibilities include: Documentation of results and maintenance of QA reports, findings, observation and correspondence; Development of new reviews as needed to support business process; Provide ad hoc technical and administrative support for AML Department

  • Responsibilities may include the following: Monitoring the Department’s central mailboxes and respond to Department inquiries; Providing back up to other AML Department support staff

What you have:

Required Qualifications:

  • Four-year degree (Finance or Accounting is preferred)

  • Banking and/or Financial Services industry experience

  • Audit or related QA experience

  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills

  • Excellent investigative/analytical/problem resolution skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Investigative experience with specific emphasis on AML/BSA/fraud prevention

  • Demonstrated knowledge of USA PATRIOT Act/Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulatory requirements

  • Experience in the completion of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs)

  • Demonstrated familiarity/competency in using AML compliance monitoring systems

  • Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS)

  • Prior audit and/or quality control experience

  • Prior brokerage and/or banking experience

  • FINRA Series 7/63 Licensing
