Our Opportunity:

Charles Schwab Investment Management (CSIM), the asset management arm of Charles Schwab Corporation, has approximately $300 Billion in assets under management (AUM) and is one of the nation’s largest retail money managers. CSIM provides a wide variety of products ranging from money market funds, index mutual funds, actively managed mutual funds, exchange traded funds and multi-asset fund-of-funds. As a provider of core investment products, CSIM is both an important enabler in fulfilling Schwab’s mission of helping everyone be financially fit and critical engine in the company’s profitability and growth.

The Portfolio Manager is responsible for all aspects of managing Multi-Asset Strategies funds on a day-to-day basis. This includes, but is not limited to: portfolio implementation, risk management, holdings monitoring, and trade analysis. In addition, the portfolio manager is expected to provide performance commentary, research feedback, recommend enhancements to the investment process and have a strong understanding of financial markets. This position contributes to a team-oriented investment process, and the individual in the role is expected to be a team player and contribute toward the success of the team and products.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage multi-asset Collective Trust Funds on a daily basis

  • Ensure portfolios are within investment guidelines and constraints

  • Participate in research on asset allocation and investment vehicles

  • Evaluate fund performance and provide attribution commentary

  • Recommend enhancements to investment process

  • Monitor investment vehicle to ensure suitability

  • Periodically present to investment committees

  • Contribute to research papers and marketing of all funds

  • Collaborate with other teams on projects

What you have:

  • 3-5 years of portfolio management experience, ideally in an multi-asset or multi-manager role

  • Familiar with risk analysis and risk budgeting process

  • Good market knowledge on equities, fixed income and other asset classes

  • Strong analytical skills, good working knowledge of R, Zephyr or other analytical tools

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and VBA

  • Attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • CFA or Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business strongly preferred

  • Familiar with financial packages like Bloomberg, Factset, Morningstar

  • Passion for investing, research and intellectual curiosity

  • The candidate should have a high level of integrity, be a self-starter, well-organized, team player

  • Knowledge of the 401(k) marketplace and Collective Trust Funds is a positive
