Our Opportunity:

Corporate Vendor Management is responsible for establishing and supporting a firm-wide Vendor Management Program to support business owners in meeting their objectives and satisfying Schwab’s client needs through appropriate and strategic use of third parties. The Program provides policies, procedures, and tools for business owners to identify, mitigate, and manage vendor risk; maximize vendor performance and value; and meet regulatory and compliance requirements.

The Manager – Third Party Monitoring and Oversight will be responsible for supporting the implementation and ongoing management of the firm’s Contract Owner (CO) vendor oversight and monitoring program. COs engage vendors to provide services and are responsible for ensuring vendors are delivering services in line with contract provisions and Schwab’s policies. This role will train and consult COs on vendor oversight requirements to maximize program compliance and third-party risk management.

What you’ll do:

The Manager will be responsible for a subset of High risk contracts and will be a subject matter expert on those relationships. Areas of responsibility include staying apprised of contract service changes identified in Risk Questionnaires, liaising with Vendor Sourcing Managers as necessary to support COs, consulting with Sr. Managers on the Vendor Relationship Manager Oversight team about impacts to the overall vendor relationship, facilitating Significant Event processing, and reviewing/approving oversight attestations completed by the COs.

In addition, the Manager will assist in overall data maintenance, validation and reporting, including contracts/vendors in scope for oversight and monitoring, vendor and contract level ownership assignments, and vendor terminations. The Manager position is an individual contributor role.

What you have:

  • 3+ years of vendor management and project management experience

  • Proven track record of building effective working relationships with business leaders, internal and external stakeholders

  • Flexible and adaptable in handling and implementing change

  • Must be a self-motivated individual who grasps concepts quickly, takes ownership of projects and processes and is a team player

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment with minimal direction

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Detail oriented with analytical proficiency, able to navigate ambiguous situations

  • Working knowledge of third party vendor risks and controls

  • Proficiency in Excel required

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred

  • Experience working in the financial industry or other regulated environment (risk, compliance or vendor management) preferred

  • Experience with Ariba, Hiperos, and/or PeopleSoft is preferred
