In Corporate Risk Management, we provide an integrated risk management strategy that supports the delivery of predictable financial and operational performance in order to produce successful client and shareholder outcomes. We are organized around six primary functions: Credit, Market, and Investment Risk; Enterprise Risk; Information Security Risk; Model Risk, Operational Risk; and Deposits & Payments Risk. Our Deposits & Payments Risk team manages the risk of loss in deposit and payment services offered through Schwab Bank and Brokerage affiliates.
As a Manager of Payments Risk, you will support our Deposits & Payments Risk Management team by having a hands-on role in the effective management of our wire, check, ACH, and online bill pay products to acceptable levels of risk. You will work closely with business partners to understand the inherent risk in digital authentication methods and provide recommendations for best practices, balancing the risk of fraud loss while allowing for a superior client experience.
What you’ll do:
Provide oversight of risk strategies for wire, check, ACH, bill pay, and mobile payments;
Provide tactical ownership of risk-based policies, procedures, and strategies to support the rollout of new payment product / service offerings;
Provide insights to support the use of digital client authentication methods, including voice-based systems
Work closely with business partners to understand new product offerings and recommend the appropriate risk-based processes and/or tools
Analyze data and KPI reporting to ensure performance is as planned and take necessary action(s) with findings.
What you have:
Ideally, at least 5 years of experience in payments fraud management in a retail banking environment or for an online payment management service.
Thorough understanding of risk-based decision strategy development, knowledge of decision engine strategies and concepts.
Strong analytical background, with intermediate level skills in SQL and SAS
Advanced level of proficiency in MS Excel
Understanding of mobile banking risk from all perspectives of digital security: authentication, data, etc.
Demonstrated expertise defining and implementing operational processes and procedures.
Excellent and proven relationship management skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
