Our Opportunity:

The Model Risk Management (MRM) Framework and Implementation team resides within MRM under the Corporate Risk Management organization at Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. We drive the implementation of MRM policies and procedures to build the MRM framework with extensive use of technology. Holistically, the system is called Model Inventory.

As a Business Analyst / Systems Developer for the Model Risk Management team, you will be jointly responsible for the development and implementation of the model governance framework as it relates to Model Inventory and Capital Stress Testing. You will work closely with reporting and testing teams within Model Risk Management as well as with business units across the company as model owners and users.

What you’ll do:

  • Drive the development and implementation of tasks pertaining to Model Inventory in four major areas and complete implementation testing and ensure all changes to Model Inventory are unit-testable

  • C# development of Model Inventory interface application

  • SQL Server database management including structure of tables, stored procedures, etc.

  • SharePoint website development including building of libraries, lists, creating forms in InfoPath

  • MRM reporting using MS Access and Excel with VBA

  • Provide support to various MRM teams, Model Owners, and other stakeholders for all systems in Model Inventory

  • Maintain thorough technical documentation supporting Model Inventory

What you have:

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a proven ability to comprehend and develop new and complex ideas and implement solutions using technically sound concepts. You will have a clear focus on robust documentation, iterative implementation testing, and the ability to anticipate and resolve problems under your own initiative.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related area required

  • Master’s degree or equivalent work experience in systems design highly preferred

  • Strong knowledge of C# or other object-oriented programming language

  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server or other relational database development

  • Experience with MS Access and MS Excel with use of VBA

  • Proficiency using MS Word and MS PowerPoint to maintain documentation and relay pertinent and precise information to senior management

  • Experience with business intelligence or data visualization tools a plus

  • Sharp critical thinking and problem solving skills

  • Ability to drive work independently

  • Highly comfortable working in a fast-paced, technologically-advanced environment
