Our Opportunity:

The Independent Branch Services (IBS) team is responsible for developing and implementing the strategy and design for a branch model that expands Schwab's retail branch footprint through franchising. Having a greater physical presence in more communities throughout the country will help Schwab provide its high-service, high-value wealth management services to more investors while building on our strong national brand.

The Field Leadership team supports the Independent Branch Leaders (franchisees) and their staff through training, coaching, consulting, and driving best practice adoption. The Field Development Manager (FDM) role is responsible for on-boarding support, initial and ongoing training, as well as the development and overall strategic direction of the training curriculum.

What you’ll do:

The IBS FDM reports to the IBS National Network Leader and the role’s primary responsibility will be to support the training needs of the Independent Branch Leaders (IBLs) and their staff from initial on-boarding through integration and beyond. In support of this role, the individual will be responsible for the following:

  • Work closely with the IBL Transition Manager to ensure a seamless hand-off following each IBL franchise agreement signing.

  • Convey Schwab’s brand and culture to help set the tone for the client and branch experience.

  • Act as virtual coach and main point of contact for the training needs of IBLs and their staff as they onboard and complete the initial training program. This includes providing systematic check-ins and forums in support of daily lessons, as well as assessments and knowledge checks to ensure the IBL/IB staff is progressing as dictated by the program.

  • Work in close coordination with the Independent Branch Market Leader (IBML) to ensure IBL/IB staff training supports the objectives and goals of the IBML and IBL.

  • Help build the unique job specific core capabilities of IBLs in the areas of client service, operational procedures, knowledge and sales of Schwab’s products and services.

  • Work to identify gaps and coordinate with the Training Organization to evolve the training curriculum and ensure future training meets the specific needs of the program.

  • Attend branch soft openings to assist IBL with systems and procedures training to ensure they are delivering a world class client experience.

  • Support new IBLs through their first year, as well as provide remedial and advanced training as determined by the business including advanced systems training and practice management consulting.

  • Facilitate the IB Academy with development of content, along business partner contact and facilitation of specific content.

What you have:

To be successful in the role, the ideal candidate should have the following skills / attributes:

  • Strong industry and market knowledge.

  • Strong internal product and systems knowledge.

  • Experience in training, coaching, and development.

  • Thorough understanding of Independent Branch Leader roles and responsibilities and Independent Branch operational procedures.

  • Proven success in developing and managing client relationships.

  • Strong client focus and the ability to effectively build and sustain trusted, collaborative relationships.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including experience developing and delivering presentations.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, along with the ability to manage projects with limited supervision.

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant prior experience required.

  • Series 7 & 63 required.

  • Series 9 & 10 preferred.
