In Corporate Risk Management, we provide an integrated risk management strategy that supports the delivery of predictable financial and operational performance in order to produce successful client and shareholder outcomes. We are organized around six primary functions: Bank Risk, Enterprise Risk, Information Security Risk, Market and Investment Risk, Model Risk and Operational Risk. Within each of these areas, we develop a framework for how much risk we are willing to accept as a firm and establish processes for identifying, evaluating, measuring, monitoring and reporting against that framework.

The Corporate Credit Research Team performs fixed income research and credit analysis in support of Schwab’s investment portfolios and other corporate needs. The team’s primary goal is to ensure strong counterparty credit quality.

What you’ll do:

  • Work closely with our research team, contributing primarily to monitoring and reporting on structured products.

  • Conduct research, monitor, and provide documentation for Asset-Backed and Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities.

  • Analyze, stress test, provide regulatory documentation and report on a multi-billion dollar structured product portfolio.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of and ability to explain complex credit structures.

  • Develop and perform cash flow modeling for ABS and CMBS holdings.

  • Evaluate and recommend new structured product investments

  • Provide research related to structured finance and various collateral types.

  • Prepare model documentation with explanations regarding key relationships, inputs and assumptions.

  • Develop an understanding of regulatory controls and requirements.

  • Prepare regulatory documentation for stress testing results according to various economic scenarios.

  • Assist the broader Corporate Credit Research Team in areas such as corporate bond investments, vendor credit assessments, broker-dealer credit assessments, and money-market fund monitoring.

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a quantitative-oriented field of study; advanced degree preferred

  • CFA designation preferred

  • 2 years of experience with structured product investments preferred; ideally CCABS, SLABS, CMBS, Auto Loan and Lease ABS, Equipment ABS, and/or DFABS.

  • Proficiency in quantitative and analytical methods/techniques.

  • Strong analytical and financial analysis skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing

  • Ability to use good judgment and work independently
