Our Opportunity:

Reporting to the EVP of International & Special Business Development, the VP of Social Networking Relationship Management(SNAP) is responsible for corporate wide development and launch of the SNAP (Social Networking Activation Program)program, a new company wide initiative designed to empower sales professionals in both the B:B and B:C space to use social media to prospect and build relationships focusing on three social media platforms: Linked In, Facebook, and Twitter. In addition, the VP will also have leadership responsibility and ongoing management responsibility for the optimization of the SNAP Program Office, a newly created organization designed to provide oversight, governance, strategy and support of the program. Leveraging the Program Office team and colleagues from around the firm, the VP will have the ability to create and implement a best in class social media program for sales and relationship management professionals withing the financial services industry. Additional Responsibilities include:

  • Management and oversight of ongoing program elements including program decisions, protocols and procedures, reporting and field communication.

  • Series 24 oversight of sales professional profiles, content and messaging.

  • Leading efforts to create and expand the current social media program through creation, recruitment, training and leadership of the “social coaches”: a new role designed to provide sales professional support and governance.

  • Cross functional leadership impacting and influencing many areas within and outside the firm including: Hearsay Systems and social media platform relationships; Legal and Compliance; Marketing & Employee Communications; Expert SMEs

  • Strategize and build relationships with specific target groups within Schwab’s Investor and Advisor Services. Longer term this program would be made available to CSIM, SPS and other key functions.

  • Oversee daily/weekly social media communications by the firm’s sales professionals.

  • Interacting with a 35 person cross-functional project team from critical areas such as Finance, Legal, Supervision, Branch Network, Advisor Services, Retirement Plan Services, Technology, and Compliance.

  • Managing the external platform relationships, influencing platform capabilities and changes to process, often working with external founders & CEOs such as Clara Shih at Hearsay Systems as well as executives at FB, LinkedIn & Twitter.

  • Act as an evangelist with sales and relationship professionals of Social Media and the SNAP program in order to encourage adoption and activation and to change the mindset of social media interaction within the organization.

Ideal Profile:

  • Minimum 15 years’ communications experience within a large corporation or agency with direct exposure to a diversified financial services organization and associated regulatory issues and guidelines; 5-7 Years’ experience in a leadership role overseeing newly developed roles.

  • Demonstrated success developing, implementing, and elevating new social media programs, including the hiring of individuals in a new role, previously foreign to an organization.

  • Strong social media skills as they relate to sales strategy and new business growth.

  • A demonstrated understanding of social media platforms and strategic usage to advance corporate sales.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze issues and develop plans on a systemic level, thinking through potential connections and impact across a large, complex, and heavily matrixed enterprise, and developing roadmaps to achieve long term vision through short term deliverables.

  • Ability to address complex issues while breaking new ground, forging new paths and setting precedents’ along the way; exhibiting courage, decisiveness and strong influencing skills both internally and externally.

  • Results oriented leader who takes the initiative and effectively distills strategy, analytics, and varied sets of input to drive to decisions and follow through to execution.

  • Strong emotional intelligence/maturity and senior level executive presence.

  • Exceptional client focus; ability to effectively and quickly build relationships and establish trust, respect, competence and confidence. Thrives on initiating, building and cultivating strong relationships inside and outside; highly collaborative; navigates and activates alignment across organizational silos.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization.

  • Strong influencing skills with business partners and ability to shape, define and present a complete and well thought-out action plans balancing business need, the firm’s capabilities and regulatory expectations.

  • Demonstrated achievements in communications liaison and the ability to develop thoughtfully-written action plans and clear/regular communication to executive management.

  • Strong conceptual, strategic and tactical planning and communication skills and effective establishment of and commitment to business goals, while constructively motivating people to achieve superior results.

  • BS/BA degree required; advanced degree preferred.

  • Series 24 preferred
