Our Opportunity:

The Enterprise Middleware and Online Security Technologies group (EMOST) provides highly scalable authentication and messaging solutions in support of all Schwab business areas.

What you’ll do:

The responsibility of this Senior Manager position is to manage the Site Reliability Engineering team, the primary functions of which are production and non-production support, maintenance, deployments, OS patching, implementing continuous delivery (CD) and Continuous Integration (CI), QA testing standards oversight, audit review and response, and system performance enhancements. The role includes oversight of both Project and Maintenance work. This Sr. Manager will engage primarily with development, support, infrastructure, and other technical personnel, including technical analysts, architects, QA personnel, project managers, and program management.

This individual must have strong organizational, communication, and people leadership capabilities; Responsibilities include management of staff and contractors, establishing roles and process flows, oversight of Agile Kanban teams responsible for support, maintenance, and projects. The ability to understand and communicate technical concepts is an essential component of the role. The EMOST group supports high-volume, mission-critical components used across all of Schwab’s major platforms for authentication, single-sign-on, and service messaging. Candidates should have a passion for understanding emerging technologies and managing their implementations where appropriate. Platform technologies supported are primarily .Net, C#, J2EE, DataPower, MongoDB, and Unix/Linux servers.

What you have:

  • 8+ years of IT project experience in technical, project and offshore vendor management capabilities

  • 5+ years of people management experience with at least 5 direct reports

  • 5+ years of experience with running medium to large/complex projects with multiple dependencies using Agile (Scrum/XP) processes in planning, implementation and support of business application components, including change & release management

  • Experience managing a 24x7 production support team with on-shore and off-shore personnel

  • Strong technology affinity and experience, as well as attention to detail & the ability to design, execute & maintain strategic goals & metrics.

  • Broad and deep knowledge of IT/software technology & trends, domain knowledge and experience in infrastructure support and application development, including: client/server, web services, portal, middleware, operating systems, databases, networking, security & business intelligence.

  • Strong knowledge of software development, testing, and maintenance

  • Professional experience leading teams that built distributed scalable enterprise-class applications using C#, ASP.Net, HTML5, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript, Javascript Frameworks (Angular, Bootstrap, etc.)

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, as well as code and work management tools such as TFS, Jira, Confluence, BitBucket, and Bamboo

  • Good knowledge of NoSQL databases

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline

  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills

  • Ability to independently work as a contributing member in a high-paced and focused team

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to thrive in a flexible and fast-paced environment across multiple time zones and locations

  • Experience with TDD is a plus
