Our Opportunity:

At Schwab, the Global Data Technology (GDT) organization governs the strategy and implementation of the enterprise data warehouse and emerging data platforms. We help Marketing, Finance, Risk and executive leadership make fact-based decisions by integrating and analyzing data. The Global Data Technology organization (GDT) enables a competitive advantage by building out and maintaining capabilities that allows us to quickly capitalize of Schwab’s data assets. Our team delivers innovative client experience capability and rich business insight through robust enterprise data integration.

We are looking for a Solutions Architect who has a passion for data and the new technology patterns that support business insight and analytics. This individual will provide architectural leadership efforts for the strategic integration of data solutions platforms involving a wide variety of tools and technologies. This role with collaborate with Schwab’s Enterprise and Application Architecture functions to appropriately position Data Platforms within overall IT ecosystem role for a modern IT landscape, integrating analytics into operational processes.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop the enterprise data technology strategy and information architecture across and including Big Data/Hadoop, Master Data Management, Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, etc.

  • Lead the Capabilities Roadmap for emerging platforms

  • Develop technologies and tool selection principles and processes to accelerate high-quality decision making for platform evolution

  • Co-create platform capabilities to integrate data management best-practices within analytic and operational solutions

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technology disciple or equivalent experience

  • 7+ years of experience in an enterprise data architecture role driving data and information related governance and strategy with more than 3+ years specializing in big data architecture or data analytics. (Big Data, DW, ETL platforms)

  • Strong, in-depth experience in data modeling and experience with business intelligence systems (dimensional modeling, data mining, predictive analytics).

  • Knowledge and experience with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, NoSQL and Map-Reduce and other industry BigData Frameworks

  • Broad based architecture acumen: Database architecture, ETL, SOA, Cloud, etc

  • Comfortable in multi-terabyte production environments

  • Knowledge of data management, data quality, data management with in-depth expertise of data optimization strategy.

  • Ability to execute projects using an agile approach in a multi-disciplinary, matrix environment.

  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, facilitation capabilities and the interpersonal skills necessary to assess complex problems, analyze options, navigate diverse perspectives and objectives and develop appropriate data management solutions

  • Ability to recognize and identify patterns in data relationships from disparate systems.

  • Strong work ethic, positive demeanor, and drive to see projects through to successful completion. Assertive and proactive and have the ability to bring out the best in others.
