This is a specialized position that will drive daily activities of the data governance function for Schwab’s reference and fundamental platforms, which includes the descriptive and pricing data for nearly 7 million unique securities and publishing of this data to numerous trading and client facing systems across the firm. Additionally, this position will also support audits, business continuity planning, and other compliance efforts for security and fundamental data. The Manager, Data Governance will contribute to the end-to-end data quality, accuracy, consistency and security across our platforms. This position includes active engagement with leaders and subject matter experts to ensure the implementation and compliance of security master data governance within firm data standards. Expertise with financial data and experience with data governance is required. This role will be based in Austin, and reports to the Managing Director, Data Governance.
What you’ll do:
Key responsibilities include:
Support the security master data governance efforts to establish monitoring of data quality, changes to the business glossary, metadata and use of data. This includes assistance with the identification, tracking, and reporting on data quality metrics on a monthly basis; creating and completing business metadata to comply with firm standards for new and existing data attributes; and ensuring content is available in the governance applications.
Support the launch of a new data governance structure for Schwab’s fundamental data platform leveraging best practices for capturing metadata and educating personnel on the governance applications, processes and procedures.
Support the onboarding of 75+ downstream applications into the governance for the security master platform.
Support the security reference and fundamental platforms with compliance reporting, risk management reviews, audit response, and business continuity planning/testing.
Provide oversight to fixed income trading confirmation review data quality process and respond to statement pricing requests.
What you have:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the financial services industry
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in data governance and/or data management
Strong analytic skills and the ability to effectively distill financial concepts into robust business metadata that can be easily understood by others
Experience in training others on standards, processes and policies related to governance and applications preferred.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization.
An undergraduate degree is required; security licenses including series 7 preferred.
